Swarm Removal
Mid-May is typically the start of swarm season in the Ohio Valley. If you see a swarm - a cluster of bees hanging from a tree branch, bush, or other structure - contact your local beekeeping organization. You can also easily find beekeepers who are willing to remove swarms in your area on the Ohio State Beekeepers Association website.
Some useful information to pass along to the beekeeper include: the approximate height of the swarm above the ground, the size of the swarm, how long the swarm has been hanging out or when it was first seen. A small fee may be requested to offset travel to and from the removal site.
